The City of Two Rivers, Wisconsin was in need of a cost effective and reliable method in which to provide free WiFi access throughout their entire downtown area and their public beach. Their goal was to enable visitors to stay connected while on the move, whether at the farmer's market or simply lounging by the water catching some rays.
The city's own IT department began working alongside N-Tech Consulting to solution and define the best possible method to achieve these goals. After discussions with the Two Rivers Power and Light Utility Director and a detailed evaluation of the city's layout, our team was able to devise an action plan that would fit exactly what the city was looking for! Utilizing their expertise in Aruba networks, our professional service engineers began design and implementation of the agreed upon solution in January 2017. Detailed Heat Mapping allowed us to strategically place access points within the requested areas and avoid any signal crossover. In conjunction with their local Internet Service Provider (who generously donated their service to the city), we were able to configure the core network to allow only visitors and pedestrians to access the WiFi, while simultaneously excluding local businesses in the immediate area.
With an initial project deadline of April 2017 for public WiFi launch, we were able to successfully deploy full access in the downtown and beach areas by March 2017, a full 30 days ahead of schedule and just in time for Spring. We enjoyed working closely with the City of Two Rivers and look forward to assisting them reach their goals in the future.
